What you’ll be working on
The great thing about working with us is that we are completely niched to pharmacy and healthcare, and led by pharmacists. Although you’ll be working on a variety of different projects, we’ll be working within one sector which means we can build much more robust and powerful products for our clients. You’ll be working on:
- Custom Plugins – We’re designing and building unique plugins that digitise front and back-end pharmacy systems.
- Bespoke PHP Applications and Dashboards – We’re building beautiful patient and pharmacist dashboards that make all the other legacy systems out there feel like it’s the 1980’s
- Online Booking Systems – To enable patients to book for their clinic online
- Online Prescribing Systems – We’re taking online prescribing to the next level and making sure patients can order medicines quickly but safely.
- eCommerce Solutions – From adapting WooCommerce to building our own payments systems.
- Building and connecting APIs – We need our products to feed into all of the other wonderful systems out there.
- Optimising the PM Internal Systems – Helping us build better dashboards for our clients and a stronger project management system to streamline our processes better.
- Mentoring and Support – Teaching our more junior developers on front and back-end technologies and sharing your awesome wisdom with the team.
Key Requirements
Take a look at the requirements for the ideal Senior Developer at Pharmacy Mentor:
- Must be able to come and visit us at our HQ in Sheffield at least once a month.
- More than 4 Years of Experience in front-end technologies, including HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, jQuery, PHP (WordPress).
- Experience in building user interfaces for websites and/or web applications on WordPress / PHP and JS framework/library.
- Experience in designing and developing responsive websites.
- Experience in managing website servers
- Have 3+ years working in an agency environment
- Comfortable working with debugging tools like Firebug, Chrome inspector, etc.
- Ability to understand CSS changes and their ramifications to ensure consistent style across platforms and browsers.
- Ability to convert comprehensive layout and wireframes into working responsive HTML pages for tablet, mobile, and desktop.
- Knowledge of interacting with RESTful APIs and formats (JSON, XML).
- Proficient understanding of code versioning tools such as Git/SVN/Mercurial.
- Strong understanding of PHP back-end development.
- Good understanding of website architecture and aesthetics.
- Good communication skills.
- Ability to independently manage projects and report/present efforts to clients.
- An experience in working with other CMS’s, including Shopify, Magento, and Drupal, is highly recommended.
- Working on React/Angular/Vue JS with WordPress to create websites and plugins is not essential but a great bonus.
Key Responsibilities
You’ll be responsible for the following:
- Helping formulate an effective, responsive design and turning it into a working WordPress theme, plugin, or application.
- Design and implement new features and functionality for WordPress websites and applications.
- Work with both our front-end and back-end developers in creating custom-built PHP solutions for our clients.
- Ensuring high-performance and availability to manage all technical aspects of the CMS.
- Designing and managing the website’s back-end, including database and server integration.
- Conducting website/application performance and UI tests.
- Monitor the performance of the live website and application built on PHP/WordPress.
- Troubleshooting content issues.
- Conduct WordPress or PHP training with the client and our team.
- Establish and guide the website’s architecture using JS library/Framework and PHP framework or WordPress.
- Looking after our server and helping troubleshoot issues.
