Before you choose a partner
GP website design.
Your questions, answered.
Practical answers for practice managers, GP partners and primary care teams.
What makes a good GP website?+
A good GP website helps patients complete everyday tasks quickly. It makes appointments, repeat prescriptions, registration, results guidance, opening times and contact details easy to find. Clear writing, accessible navigation and reliable mobile layouts matter more than decorative features.
How much does GP website design cost?+
Your quote depends on the number of practices and pages, the condition of your existing content, migration work, service connections and the support you need. We agree the build scope, any one-off charges and ongoing fees before work begins. Tell us your current website address and priorities so we can prepare a relevant proposal.
Can you help if our GP website is offline?+
Yes. We can assess the access and content available and discuss an interim information page or a replacement GP website. Timing depends on domain access, approvals and the work required. A replacement website does not itself restore a separate appointment or online consultation platform.
Can we keep our existing domain name?+
Usually, if your practice controls the domain or can obtain the necessary permissions from its current provider. We check ownership and DNS access before planning the move. Website and email settings are reviewed separately so changes to the website do not inadvertently disrupt practice email.
Can the website connect to the NHS App and our online consultation provider?+
We can add clear links and guidance for the online services your practice already uses, including the NHS App. Embeds or deeper integrations need a separate review of provider documentation, permissions and technical compatibility. We confirm what is possible before including it in your proposal.
How do you approach accessibility in GP website design?+
We plan readable content, useful headings, clear link labels, keyboard navigation and responsive layouts from the outset. We agree the accessibility testing scope and statement requirements for your project. Any formal compliance claim needs evidence from the completed website and its content; a visual template alone is not proof.
How long does a new GP website take?+
We set a delivery schedule after reviewing your content, access, service links and approval process. A small information site and a multi-practice migration have different needs. If your current website is unavailable, tell us at the start so we can assess the immediate priorities.
Can you support several practices or a primary care network?+
Yes. We can scope a shared design approach with individual practice information, locations, opening hours and service links. We agree which content is shared, who approves changes and how updates are managed across the group before development begins.
Will you help with content and ongoing updates?+
Content review, migration, hosting, maintenance and ongoing updates can be included in your agreed service. We define what is covered, who supplies and approves clinical or operational information, and how your team requests changes. This keeps responsibilities clear after launch.
Do you provide SEO for GP websites?+
We can include descriptive page titles, crawlable content, a sitemap, redirects and clear location information in the build. For private GP services, we can also discuss a separate search strategy. Search rankings are not guaranteed, and patient access remains the central purpose of an NHS practice website.
