NI Pharmacy Trade Show 2027: Owner’s Guide

Belfast offers one day of suppliers, services and retail ideas. Arrive with three pharmacy decisions and a comparison sheet, not an open-ended shopping list.

One day is enough to compare a market. It is also short enough to be steered by whichever stand you reach first.

The NI Pharmacy Trade Show 2027 gives Northern Ireland’s community pharmacy owners, pharmacists, managers and teams a dedicated day for suppliers, service ideas, retail opportunities and sector conversations. The useful outcome is not a bag of brochures. It is a small set of decisions that the pharmacy can verify, test or decline.

In brief

When and where is the NI Pharmacy Trade Show 2027?

The official event page schedules the show for Wednesday 27 January 2027, from 9am to 5.30pm, at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Belfast. It currently describes free tickets for pharmacy professionals and an invite-only social dinner after the show. Confirm registration, access, programme and travel directly with the organiser before making arrangements.

  • Choose no more than three owner decisions for the day.
  • Use the same questions and pharmacy scenarios with every shortlisted supplier.
  • Book the follow-up meeting before anyone travels to Belfast.

Confirmed NI Pharmacy Trade Show 2027 details

The organiser’s official NI Pharmacy Trade Show 2027 page places the event at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Belfast on Wednesday 27 January 2027. It currently lists opening hours of 9am to 5.30pm and describes the event as free for pharmacy professionals, with lunch and refreshments included.

The published description says the show is for pharmacy owners, pharmacists, managers and teams from across Northern Ireland. It names private services, technology, retail and new revenue opportunities among the areas visitors may explore. The detailed schedule is not complete at the time of writing, so this guide does not infer speakers, exhibitors or session content from previous editions.

The official page also lists a social dinner from 6pm, but states that this part is invite-only and advises visitors to speak to exhibitors. Do not treat a show ticket as dinner access. The page gives separate professional and non-pharmacy ticket routes, so every attendee should use the registration category that matches their role.

Event information: Details were checked on 30 October 2026. Confirm dates, times, venue, programme, ticket eligibility, data-sharing terms, dinner access and travel directly with the organiser and venue before making arrangements. Decide what the day must change

A regional trade show can be especially useful when an owner wants to compare suppliers without sending the team to several separate meetings. It can also scatter attention across products that have no agreed place in the pharmacy’s plan.

Start with three decisions, written as questions. Which service could the branch operate safely and profitably with its present team? Which technology problem is creating the most rework? Which retail or premises change would improve a journey the pharmacy has already measured? A decision question gives exhibitors something more useful than “show me what you do”.

Place each question inside the pharmacy’s wider business strategy. A persuasive demonstration should not displace a higher-priority service, consume capacity that the rota cannot support or create another platform that nobody owns. Attendance is research; it is not permission to buy.

Owner questionEvidence to bringUseful show outcome
Could this private service fit the pharmacy?Local demand signals, competence, consultation capacity, governance gaps and current patient journeyA shortlist of assumptions to verify before any launch
Should we replace a system or supplier?Faults, workarounds, support records, contract dates, costs and required integrationsComparable demonstrations against the same real scenarios
Could retail space work harder?Category performance, stock movement, customer questions, margin and available spaceOne bounded layout or range test with a baseline
Where could automation remove rework?Task volume, handling time, exceptions, hand-offs and error pointsA workflow proposal that keeps responsibility visible

Take pharmacy evidence, not assumptions

Suppliers can answer a better question when the pharmacy explains the current state. Take anonymised process maps, transaction or booking patterns, support themes, stock exceptions and staff observations. Do not carry patient-identifiable information around an exhibition hall or enter it into an unfamiliar demonstration.

Separate a symptom from its likely cause. A slow booking journey may come from the website, but it may also come from unclear service criteria, limited appointment capacity or a hand-off that requires staff to re-key information. A new product cannot fix an operating model that nobody has mapped.

For a technology decision, use the questions in our pharmacy IT support guide to map ownership, dependencies and recovery. For a delivery proposition, the pharmacy courier guide helps owners test custody, identity, failed delivery, records and exceptions rather than comparing price per mile alone.

Compare suppliers on the same ground

Prepare one scenario for every supplier in a category. If you are comparing a service platform, ask each provider to show the ordinary journey, an unsuitable request, missing information, a failed integration, a staff handover and the audit trail. If you are comparing retail propositions, ask about range logic, minimum orders, expiry, returns, merchandising support, data ownership and exit.

Record what the demonstration actually proved. A polished screen does not prove implementation capacity. A testimonial does not establish the result for another pharmacy. A headline saving is incomplete without the inputs, exclusions, contract term and staff time required to achieve it.

Use four columns in the comparison sheet: evidence seen, evidence promised, question unanswered and next action. This makes the post-show follow-up faster and reduces the chance that a confident conversation is remembered as a confirmed capability.

Use learning and networking deliberately

When the final programme is published, choose sessions that challenge the three decision questions. Leave enough time between them to record what changed in the pharmacy’s thinking. Filling every slot can produce a complete diary and an unusable handover.

Networking works better with a specific request. An owner might ask another pharmacy how it staffed a service after the launch month, what it stopped doing, which measure exposed a problem or what it would put into the supplier contract now. Respect commercial and patient confidentiality, and distinguish another owner’s experience from evidence that automatically transfers to your branch.

The show’s local focus can help a Northern Ireland team find regionally relevant peers and suppliers. It does not remove the need to check which contractual, regulatory, commissioning and professional arrangements apply to the proposed service. Do not import an England-only operating assumption into Northern Ireland because it appeared in a national presentation.

Protect governance and commercial control

Decide before the show who may request information, arrange a further demonstration, enter a trial or sign an order. A time-limited show offer should not bypass the people responsible for budget, information governance, clinical governance, procurement or contract review.

For digital suppliers, ask about access roles, authentication, logs, backups, support access, subprocessors, data location, incident response, export and deletion. Our pharmacy cybersecurity guide provides an owner-level question set. For services, connect the proposal to the pharmacy’s clinical-governance system, including competence, SOPs, records, incidents, complaints and review.

Read registration and badge terms before sharing team details. The event page currently explains how attendee information may be shared with exhibitors and provides a contact route for preferences. Each attendee should understand the current terms rather than assume a colleague’s registration choice applies to everyone.

Turn the show into a 30-day plan

Hold a review within two working days. Put every note into one of four groups: verify, compare formally, test or decline. “Interesting” is not a fifth status.

Give each surviving action an owner, due date and acceptance test. A supplier comparison might require contract terms, two references, security evidence and a second demonstration. A retail idea might begin with one category, one branch and four weeks of baseline and test data. A service idea may first need a pathway, competence review and local demand check.

At day 30, record what the pharmacy learned and what it will do next. A deliberate decision not to proceed is a useful result when the evidence shows poor fit, weak controls or insufficient capacity.
